The world's 25 well-known language schools closed overnight. What about more than 40000 international students?
Last week, a well-known international language education institution EC English Language Centres suddenly announced the closure of all 25 language schools in seven destinations around the world and the immediate cessation of English language teaching and business operations.
CEO, EC English Andrew Mangion A letter was sent to the partners on the same day that the company would stop operations from the same day and retain only a small number of staff the next day. The company subsequently announced the formal commencement of bankruptcy proceedings, due to the "dire financial situation and the failure to secure additional investments".
EC English previously had schools in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Malta. The company said it was "deeply sorry" for the uncertainty and impact this decision has brought to students and partners ".
At present, more than 40000 students have been affected, but the company has not yet announced the specific follow-up placement plan for all students.

Many countries began to help students transfer
The British aspect,Language Education Industry Association English UK An emergency student support scheme has been launched to help EC English around 370 current students in four schools in London, Cambridge, Brighton and Manchester to find alternative courses at no additional cost.
Canada is taking similar steps.Languages Canada EC English currently has about 375 students in two schools in Toronto and Vancouver, and will help them transfer to other language schools to complete their courses. At present, more than 25 member schools have expressed their willingness to accept the affected students, giving priority to students who are about to end their courses.
American aspect,EnglishUSA About 202 current students have been affected and the association is coordinating with EC English and other language schools to find alternative courses for students.
South Africa's English South Africa Transfer and other learning arrangements are also being coordinated with local language schools.
For students currently living in accommodation arranged by EC English,Accommodation and related support will continue to be provided until September 19 to allow students to arrange follow-up trips or return home, the company said.

Once received 50000 students a year
The EC English has been established for 35 years. It started as a school in Malta and has gradually developed into an international language education institution covering many countries.
At its peak in 2019, EC English's adult and youth programs received up to 50000 students a year.
Languages Canada 负责人Gonzalo Peralta It said the EC English closure was a "sad day" for the industry ".
And this sudden shutdown is not entirely without signs. Just last week, the EC English urgently notified partner institutions that it could not accept new students scheduled to arrive at schools around the world this week.

Global language education market continues to be under pressure
The closure of the EC English has also once again exposed the post-epidemic global English language teaching (ELT) Pressure on the market. The global English language teaching market has declined significantly for the second consecutive year. Industry insiders believe that the decline in the number of students may no longer be just a temporary fluctuation after the epidemic, but means that the entire industry is undergoing structural changes.
The Canadian language education industry has been particularly affected by changes in immigration policy, with student numbers continuing to decline. Languages Canada said the industry has been hit by the outbreak and policy changes in some of the major study abroad destinations.
For the current EC English, the top priority of industry organizations is still to help students who are already in the local area complete their courses to minimize the impact of this sudden closure.
